He stated that abolishment of AUKU would affect the public funds. It is because he believed that the universities get the funding from the taxpayers and if the students involves in politics, the students would neglect their study. However this statement shows that Tun never agree that our student now is matured. He still believe that student must STUDY!! STUDY!!! AND STUDY!!. He looks so hypocrite because he also part of the student movement during the Japan Colonialisation in Malaya and supported Anwar Ibrahim as student to attack on the administration of Tunku during 60's.
But, his idea changed and in 70's he enacted AUKU to protect the government from the student demonstrations. the REAL INTENTION OF AUKU is not specifically to govern universities but to protect the government interest and its status quo. The situation happened on the election of 1969 was derived from the student movement when they established their own manifesto. LOOK!! we can see the effect when government lost two third majority in the Parliament. It's reality.
Tun, I respect u as what you are but not all of your ideas, I believed that you brings a lot of changes to Malaysia and also u bring the bad things to Malaysia. With due respect i don't agree with you on this matter..
